Under arbetet med Under särskilda omständigheter undersökte Caroline Mårtensson de containrar som används som mål vid skjutövningar. De får ett ljusinsläpp som påminner om den stjärnhimmel som numera på grund av ljusföroreningar endast kan upplevas i full utsträckning på några få platser i världen. Ljusföroreningar är ett stort hot mot biologisk mångfald och har även negativa effekter på människans hälsa. Kulorna och granatsplittrets kraft leder tankarna till krigshärjade områden. Den sköra mänskliga kroppen binds här samman med de oåterkalleliga sår vi orsakar jorden.

During the work with In Special Circumstances, Caroline Mårtensson investigated the containers used as targets at shooting exercises. They have light shining in which resembles the starry sky that due to light pollution can now only be fully experienced in few places. Light pollution is a major threat to biodiversity and has negative effects on peoples’ health. The power of the bullets and the shrapnel leads one to think of war zones. The fragile human body is tied together with the irreversible wound that we create on earth.
