Spegelns ytterform följer konturerna av trädstammen. I spegelbilden sluts årsringarnas cirkel samtidigt som omgivningen reflekteras. Speglingen av den mänskliga betraktaren förenas med askens ålder.
Asken som art är kraftigt drabbad av den vindspridda askskottsjukan som upptäcktes i Sverige 2001. Askskottsjuka orsakas av den främmande, invasiva arten askskottsjukesvamp Hymenoscyphus fraxineus vars sporer sprids med vinden. Både unga och gamla askar drabbas. Det medför en risk för en snabb utslagning av större delen av det svenska askbeståndet.

2022 Ash and polished tin
The outline of the mirror follows the contour of the tree trunk. In the mirror image the annual rings are completed at the same time as the surroundings are being reflected. The reflection of the viewer is combined with the age of the ash tree.
The ash is heavily affected by the wind spread elm disease, which was discovered in Sweden in 2001. The disease is caused by the foreign, invasive ascomycete fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus that has spores that are spread by the wind. Old as well as young ashes are affected. This is causing a risk of rapid elimination of a large part of the ash population in Sweden.
